In 1996 Scott A. Householder founded the registered investment advisory firm Householder Group Estate & Retirement Specialists. After building a successful management career with a Fortune 100 global energy company, and later with the nation’s largest financial planning firm, he established HG with a vision of building an independent, client-focused, advisory firm dedicated to placing clients’ interests first.

Since its inception, Householder Group has enjoyed amazing success. In 1998 Householder Group was the fastest growing Registered Investment Advisory firm in the nation. In 1999, Scott led Householder Group through the acquisition of a large, longstanding advisory firm in Los Angeles, California. In 2001 Householder Group continued its expansion into Orange County, successfully opening four satellite offices within 18 months. Today, the firm operates over 60 offices across the continental United States. Householder Group has one of the strongest “brain trusts” in America. Householder Group has been sought out by major financial news networks for financial opinions and advice, regularly quoted on CNBC, Squawk Box, the Wall Street Journal, and has economists that are syndicated in national newspapers.

Scott grew up in Oklahoma City; he served as class president in high school and graduated with honors. After his high school graduation, he attended Oklahoma State University and was awarded 14 scholarships based upon academic and leadership achievements. He graduated top of his college class with honors and earned a Bachelor of Sciences in Business Administration with a minor in Economics. He was a Top Ten Senior and earned a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance & Estate Planning, while serving as president of the MBA Association.

Scott began his career working for the world’s largest global energy company. He managed 13 company-owned retail outlets with 175 employees, and he developed the top producing zone in the nation. Scott married his wife Debby in 1986 and joined the nation’s top financial advisory firm in 1987. Within four years he was recognized as the Top First Year Advisor in the nation, promoted to Training Manager, named a Master Advisor, and was subsequently promoted to District Manager. He built his district into the number one position in the nation and then was promoted to Division Vice President in Phoenix Arizona in 1991. True to his motto that “clients come first,” he led the Phoenix division from the 172nd placing division, out of 175 nationwide, to first. He left the company in 1996 to form Householder Group Estate & Retirement Specialists.

Due to Scott’s numerous business and professional achievements, as well as his extensive philanthropic and community service activities, he has been honored with three lifetime achievement awards. In 2011, the Spears School of Business designated him as one of the 50 top graduates of their MBA program in the past 50 years. In 2014, Oklahoma State University recognized Scott as a “100 for 100,” one of the top 100 graduates in the past 100 years. Additionally, in 2019, he was awarded the Sigma Chi International Fraternity’s lifetime achievement award a “Significant Sig”, a title shared by astronauts, US Congress members, Senators, and industry leaders.

Scott believes in serving his community. He has coached 26 little league soccer and basketball teams, taught Sunday school, served on the board of directors of his church, and served as president of his community association.

Scott is an avid outdoorsman and is passionate about exploring the natural wonders of the world. In his spare time he enjoys hiking, cycling, kayaking, skiing, and mountain biking. Scott has hiked twelve 14,000’ mountains and has completed 3 Grand Canyon rim-to-rim hikes. He has commuted to work on his bicycle for ten years accumulating over 40,000 miles on this route alone. Scott and Debby have lived in Paradise Valley, Arizona since 1991. They enjoy frequent family gatherings with their three adult children.
